Why Meditation at work?

It is a long-held misconception that by slowing down, you will not be able to accomplish as much. Yet, imagine making decisions from the space of possibility rather than time crunch; wouldn’t you be more available to think outside the box?

What if you felt more trust, released control, and saw that things still get done? What if you could cultivate your focus and let the million of distractions fall away?

In meditation you get acquainted with your natural state of ease. Meditation builds our ability to concentrate and focus our ability to remain in a balanced state.

Here is the truth of finding balance; is to not just hearing the word or intellectualizing what balance looks like, it is to know intimately what balance FEELS like.

How do we get there?

The paradox is that we often come to know what balance feels like through our experience of imbalance, which can show up as frantic feelings, sharp reactions or high emotional responses. It can also be physical disruption in the belly, nervous system or headaches.

In meditation we cultivate the practice of neutrality, creating a gap between our environments and our responses. Sometimes to find balance, we need to pause and rest in the comfort of nothing.

Let’s Get Meditating

We will start at the beginning, creating a foundation for your meditation practice. We will dive, not only into the techniques of the practice, but how it influences the nervous system, the brain, and hormones.

This series is completely customizable, based on level of experience, corporate culture, and availability of time. Workplace Meditation programs are offered in person in Edmonton and surrounding areas. For requests outside of AB, please contact me directly.

A sample class can range from 30- 60 min and could include the following: :

  • Philosophy/Bio Mechanics of Meditation

  • Chair Yoga

  • Breathwork

  • Meditation Practice

Costs will vary depending on the length and complexity of program.

It is important for me to get to know your company & its culture to craft programs that will optimize the benefit to your company.

Workplace Yoga

Working in an office, sitting is a natural requirement of the job. We sit and think for 8 hours a day. Workplace yoga is the perfect complement to this act as it refreshes the body and soothes the mind. It allows us the opportunity to break repetitive cycles of habit and thought, which cause mental and physical dullness.


How Does Yoga Help?

Through yoga, one is able to bring vibrancy back into the body.

Yoga stimulates circulation especially into the hands and feet, which can become stagnant by sitting. The flow of fresh oxygen, though these now flowing cells, creates alertness and energy. Movement allows the body to process though the lymphatic system; boosting the immunity of the practitioner and resulting in fewer sick days.

Yoga creates body awareness that focuses on proper alignment of the spine and pelvis, which are essential for proper posture. Moreover, it has the ability to strengthen core muscles that are required to hold the body up. This is especially helpful for those who remain stationary for long periods or do repetitive movements.

Those who practice Yoga have an enhanced attitude and outlook on life.

Yoga has the ability to reduce depression and anxiety by increasing serotonin levels, which is directly linked to a person’s happiness level. Letting go of negative aspects and cultivating positivity is a key theme in yoga, which can be integrated into all aspects of life.

Stress reduction is a major benefit to yoga practitioners. It provides the opportunity to quiet the mind which reduces the mental loops of frustration, regret, and fear that can cause stress.

Stress is implicated in many health problems—from migraines and insomnia to high blood pressure, which makes reducing stress a key element in keeping healthy.

Time to start Moving

Classes will be designed with consideration of the participants’ movement restrictions and injuries, as well as personal goals. Workplace yoga is offered in person in Edmonton and surrounding areas. For requests outside of AB, please contact me directly.

All that is required, from you, is a space to practice in. This can be a designated wellness area or in a boardroom with furniture set aside.

Classes can range from 30 - 75 min and could include any of the following:

  • Breathwork

  • Physical Movement

  • Guided Relaxation

  • Meditation

Stress Buster Workshop

We have all felt the impact of stress, impulsive or over-quick reactions, sluggishness, anxiety or getting caught in uncontrolled negative mental loops. In this workshop we explore how our environment, social conditioning, hormones and mental patterns all have the potential to contribute to the stress we place on ourselves.

One way or another, we allowed stress to enter our lives, which means we also have the equal capacity to eradicate it from our experience.

We begin by understanding our triggers and thought patters and how they physically impact our body. We examine our environment, social perceptions and expectations and how they contribute to our beliefs around what is possible. Practical applications, meditations and self reflections allow for the integration of this knowledge to be come personal wisdom.

From the scientific to the practical, this workshop will satisfy the intellectual understanding of stress and offers experiential components and tips to begin to re-pattern your life.
